| Take a tour of the city streets of Mumbai. You will see beautiful colours, people of all kind and ethnic backgrounds. People working hard for a living. Some prosperous, some on their way to prosperity, some struggling hard and some not so fortunate. It doesn’t take too long to seek, to find these unfortunate ones, destitute, sick and dying on the streets. The society has discarded them like refuse. Many of them are destitute. Hundreds pass by and not one gives the cup of water for which they crave. Many times even hospital staff refuse them admission because of their filth and stink. The IMCARES team takes daily tours of the city streets to serve these poorest of the poor with the compassion of Jesus Christ. They wash them, clothe them, clean and dress their wounds. The sick and dying are carried and taken to a hospital of homes for the dying. Many die soon after, but not before knowing the deep love of Jesus. Others gradually recover and start a new life. |
