AIDS has many faces, it could be a man, woman, and child, even unborn. AIDS
sees no barriers, no rich no poor, no caste, no religion. While the rich
can afford to hide the fact, AIDS cases are on a continual rise in the poor
slums areas. The IMCARES –IMPACT-Inter-Mission Prevention of AIDS
through Care And Training cares to ____no. of HIV positive people and AIDS
patients. AIDS make one poor. It sucks out all the resources saved for the
future in no time. They are left with nothing, just the stigma and loneliness.
It is to such that Jesus has called us to reach out to. To touch them, to care for them, to provide for them with the unconditional Agape love of Jesus. The IMPACT project provides pre & post-test counseling, voluntary blood testing, Home Based Care for those terminally ill, T.B, treatment for HIV positive persons and basic advocacy. The project also provides these poor patients monthly rations and a supplementary health diet apart from charitable help as need be. Though medically it may seem to be a lost battle, but the patients who die of AIDS under our care experience the victorious living as they find eternal hope in Jesus Christ through the caring staff of IMCARES. Many of the HIV positive patients who benefit from the IMPACT project are Eunuchs. Though eunuchs live in a very closed and well knit community, yet they are often discarded by their own members when they are unwanted, old, ugly and more so when they are suffering from AIDS. But ever soul is precious in God’s sight. He loves them. We love them because of the love Jesus has put in our hearts. IMPACT has facilitated the CORINTH (Christian Organisations’ Response In Networking To HIV/AIDS) network. This is a network of like-minded Christian organizations working in the field of HIV/AIDS. There is a considerable amount of referral that is an outcome of this network. The network has brought Christian response to HIV/AIDS infected and affected into the public eye. This is also a place where the members regularly come together, share and pray for each other. |
