The beginning
God sends His people to motivate us
In 1982 Peter Will, a humble servant of God from Germany was moved with the
plight of the poor and suffering, specially those who were dying on the streets
of Mumbai. His vision was to serve these precious souls whom God loves, with
the agape love of Jesus Christ. He practically started caring for them by providing
them food, taking them to hospitals and praying with them. Meanwhile he met
many Christian leaders inviting them share the vision that God had given to
him. Few responded. God moved their hearts.
Many times God sends his people to motivate and challenge us to live fruitful
lives as we abide in the Lord Jesus Christ, but finally it is our own duty to
reach out to our brothers and sisters in need in this great nation, India.
After much prayer, few committed Christians accepted this vision as their own
and sought to work for it’s fulfillment over many years. The understanding
has been that the Love of Jesus Christ is to be shown in practical ways to the
suffering and poor and to children in need. To give them hope in Christ.
Pastor Sumitra Gaikwad along with his wife Vishranti were led by God to give
up their jobs elsewhere and work fulltime to see this vision fulfilled and since
then have been leading the preacious flock of God, feeding them with the nourishing
Word of God. With the vision in mind, their primary aim in mind was to encourage
Christians to grow in the Word of God, to obey it and to abide in Jesus. Jesus
very clearly tells us in His own words in Gospel of John 15:8 “Herein
is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.”
As we grow in Christ, we will bear fruit. That is the sign of a true disciple
of Jesus Christ. We are encouraged by the epistle of James 1:27 “Pure
religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless
and widows in their affliction, [and] to keep himself unspotted from the world.”
After a small beginning in 1982, we today have various projects in which over
50 committed Christians work together to bring the love of Jesus to the poor
by ministering to them in a practical way.
Staff
A family growing together
The 50 staff and volunteers of IMCARES comprises of committed Christians from
various churches in Mumbai and Thane who share the same vision, to bear the
fruit of the spirit. Along with technical training, the leadership of IMCARES
stresses on spiritual infilling of the staff. We are a family growing together
in the Lord and united by His love.
The future
As the Lord leads IMCARES,
with the Lord’s leading, continues to serve the poor and the needy in
Mumbai and has a vision to expand it’s activities through out the Maharashtra
State beginning with Pune. With restoring lives being our goal and the poor
and the needy our primary focus, IMCARES will make the best of the opportunities
available. IMCARES aims to serve God humbly in obedience and faith rather than
seeking to establish it’s own kingdom.
You can be involved too
Sharing the joy of the Lord
If you are a born again Christian and part of the body of Christ, you are welcome
to contact us and be a part of us as need be. In the years gone by we praise
God for the numerous volunteers, staff and visitors that have come and been
a part of this ministry. They have added to us an extra strength and made facing
challenges much easier. Education and skill does not matter to our Lord, all
He asks for is obedience and commitment. We are also in need of skilled staff
who considers it a joy to serve the Lord and not a burden.
